Working on the 5+ students. Pretty sure I have 3 so far.
As far as a presentation - maybe we can combine a couple of Dale's presentations he has on Power Point with anything that ARRL has (once they answer my email) and have a pretty good canned presentation that is attractive togroups such as the Preppers. There is another group called the Hill Country Patriots who might be interested too. The P
atriots group has a presentation on Firearms Being Collected by Feds on the 24th at 6 pm at the Southern Oaks Baptist Church (off of Ranchero Road). Their meeting will have the county commisioners, Kerr County Sheriff, Texas Rangers, and the Kerrville Police chief to discuss what the law enforcement people plan to do if the Feds want our weapons. Word is from the County Commisioners that they will tell the Feds to go home and not return. It should be an nteresting meeting. To attend you need to RSVP to Ed Schuler at 830-896-1452.
In the line of Prepping for Emergencies - Arlene and I are members of the Kerrville Mormon Church and we have access to getting people to the LDS Cannery in San Antonio to pack long term supplies of food. If anyone is interested we need to set a time and try to get an appointment set at the cannery. To non-LDS people they require payment in Cash vs a check for members. You can go to http://providentliving.org/self-reliance/food-storage/home-storage-center-order-form?lang=eng to see what is available and the cost. When we go, be prepared to work a bit as we actually do the long term canning of the items at the Dry Pack Cannery. The only item I prefer not to put into cans is spaghetti - it fits much better into their mylar bags.

Gary:
I'd like at least 5 in the class. It's a five week commitment of my time.
We'd have to do it outside the auspices of Club Ed, so we'd need to find another place to hold the classes. If the HCARC were to sponsor it, we could try to get space at the Red Cross on Saturdays from 10am - 3pm for five weekends. The Red Cross would be ideal since we already have the club station there which would make it easier to do on-the-air demos
If we were to do this on Saturdays, the earliest I could start would be March 23rd, running 5 weeks through April 27 (skipping March 30th because this is Easter weekend). That would get the students ready for the next VE test session on May 4th.
Charges would be $20 for the course and $25 for the written materials.
Get me the students and I will put on the course.
73,
Dale - K4DG

Dale,
Without trying, I have two people for sure and one for pretty sure who would like to take the Tech Class. To broadcast a "Special Class" to/for the Kerr County Preppers Group that Linda Ransom, Mike I. from Bandera and I talked to the other night, how many more would be needed to convince you to offer a class this spring??
