[HCARC] Batteries In Handy Talkies

My Alinco DJ-V57T Handy Talkie says in the instructions to ABSOLUTELY NEVER USE rechargeable batteries in their optional battery pack which takes 6 AA batteries. They say to use 6 disposable ones. They deny any responsibility of damage to the Handy Talky if rechargeables are used. Six disposable batteries produce 9 volts. Six rechargeable ones produce 7.2 volts. HOWEVER, the rechargeable battery packs you get from Alinco all produce between 7.2 volts and 7.4 volts - the same as the rechargeable AA's.

Is there something I am missing or is Alinco just trying to play a new Ham for a fool?? I have never heard of not being able to use rechargeables. Somehow I get the feeling this is like the tag on a pillow that can't be removed under penalty of law.
