[HCARC] RG6 Coax For Dipole Antenna

Gary,

RG-6 covers a variety of sins.  Mil Spec RG-6/U is a double shelded cable 
with a bare copper shield and a sllvered copper shield.  I don't think I've 
ever seen a piece of Mil Spec RG-6/U.  It is just not very common.  The 
majority of RG-6 you will find is the cable TV variety.  Every piece of CATV 
RG-6 I've seen has an aluminum foil shield and a drain wire.  Since the 
coaxial dipole antennas I've seen, either a coaxial vertical dipole or a 
"bazooka", require soldering to the shield, I think it would be very 
difficult to use the CATV style RG-6.

Perhaps someone else has another opinion.
