To All-
Anyone anticipating installing a tower may want to hire a fellow who I used last week. He’s helped me in the past with outdoor projects.
I needed someone to dig the hole for the tower, pick up and haul 32 bags of Quick Crete along with a concrete mixer in a pickup truck then mix and pour the concrete. This is more work than I wanted to request of fellow hams. I had trenched, installed rebar, anchors, twelve bags of concrete the previous week on my own and it was a bit more than I anticipated so I knew I needed some help. He’s not a tower climber but can provide the tough manual labor.
In addition, I bought the 40 feet of 3/4” rebar and 12 feet of 5/8” rebar that went into the tower base foundation from MG building supply. They will cut the rebar to the needed lengths for what I consider a nominal fee. I also obtained the rebar for the anchors from MG.
I picked up 3 – 48” anchors from Tractor Supply Company which were tied into the anchor rebar.
If you have any specific questions regarding my helper Tom, please contact me offline. If you have questions regarding the design of the anchors or base let me know.
Chuck Brainard, KA1PM, has been a great mentor with his advice for this project.
