Gary,

If your using aluminum wire and an aluminum plate, I would look for some 
aluminum nuts and bolts.  It is disimilar metals that is the issue.  If I 
could do it all aluminum, that's what I would do.  An old Navy hand probably 
heard about the Navy's battle against "rusty bolts" and corrosion between 
disimilar metals on ship board.  We got the same problem.  When you run RF 
through them, you generate all kinds of extra frequencies.  The serious guys 
are even careful about the connectors they use, nickel I think is 
particularly bad and fairly common.  I don't think we need to worry about 
the connectors yet, but I would avoid dissimilar metals if I could.

By the way, be careful of the sheep droppings when you run your radials. 
I've had some of mine eaten by cow pies!
