I found out why the NWS wanted to get rainfall reports from us Monday night.

Don Kirchner, W5DK, (Anhalt repeater, 145.13,T131.8)of Spring Branch said
the NWS  radar was indicating a much higher rate of rainfall than we were
actually getting.  So they thought there would be a really bad flash flood.
So our reports showed them that it wasn't so bad.

The radar is being converted to dual polarity right now, so that will make
it more accurate in these cases.

BTW, having Echolink enabled our reports to get to the NWS.
