To All-
Congrats to Chuck and Harvey for getting the Cushcraft R5 antenna up on the tower today. The added antenna will certainly increase the functionality of the club station.
Since we’ll be utilizing computer logging this year for Field Day via N1MM Contesting Software, I thought we might want to get some operating and logging practice in during the NAQP-SSB Contest. This is a great contest in which to participate because the power for contestants is limited to 100 watts so it should be a pretty level playing field from a power standpoint. In addition, it’s primarily for North American stations so there should be a good level of participation. With the added antenna we can run 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters in the contest.
I spoke to Harvey about using N5HR, the Club Station for the NAQP-SSB Contest. In addition, Eric at the Red Cross verified there are no classes scheduled for Saturday so there should be no problem utilizing the Club Station.
Is anyone in the Club interested in joining me this coming Saturday about 11:30 am at the Red Cross Building to simply observe or participate in the contest? One person to log and the other to operate the rig. We’ll plan to rotate positions every 30 minutes to allow adequate participation.
If there’s at least one person who wants to join me we’ll start operating around noon and we’ll be in the Shack. Anyone coming later than 11:45 am will need to call my cell phone, 281-844-8897, to gain entry since the front door will be locked.
This is intended to be a low stress learning opportunity so all are invited to simply attend or participate. I’ll need help from Harvey or Fred to get access to the Red Cross Building and Shack.
