To all-

Thanks to Jerry Migely, WA9KXZ, for joining me at the N1MM Practice Session today. Our intention was to participate in the 10-10 10 Meter Phone Contest but 10 meters wasn’t the greatest with few participants. As a result, we checked out the contesting website, SM3CER, to see what other contests are ongoing that may be of interest. We decided to participate in the Mexican XE RTTY Contest that began at noon local time and created a new contest log in the N1MM software.

While the contest wasn’t the greatest, it still provided the vehicle to introduce Jerry to N1MM and Digital RTTY Communications. We decided to primarily call CQ rather than Search and Pounce and worked 74 stations in about 4 hours. Jerry did an excellent job in adapting to the N1MM software with the MMTTY RTTY plug-in. While we worked mostly US stations, we also managed to work Aruba, Venezuela, Brazil and Chile. I think the highlight of the afternoon was when we were calling CQ and had a call from VK4UC on 20 meters. Thanks to Chuck and Harvey for their work on the R5 antenna and new cable switch box.

Next weekend is the CQ WW WPX RTTY contest and it has a high degree of ham participation. I need to check out whether we can utilize Classroom B on Saturday or Sunday but will provide an update on the reflector for those who may want to join me.
