Put lots of wire over your roof. It keeps the aliens from beaming you up.

I agree with Curtis couple pieces of wire tie it to a coax to a tuner then your radio enjoying making contact that's the fun part. to me there is no perfect antenna, even today I have a very simple antenna for me it's fun to makes contact with 100 Watts in an inverted V antenna. also I don't have to worry about the weather as much with high winds in all. and if you're starting out it is very expensive to put up a tower and beams just as I said above to throw a piece of wire up in the air start making contacts and have fun.

I once took an old extension cord and threw it over an oak tree, one end tied into the tuner. Ground was just a 4' rod. Text book says it shouldn't work well but it made 80 and 160 come alive. Sometimes good enough is good enough.
