Best bet, until you have a chance to learn more about antenna theory, is to just go with a proven antenna design. Look at what you have to work with, space, support, materials. Figure out what will fit and cover the bands you want to work.
Start simple with a G5RV, tuned feeder doublet, ocfd, something that has withstood the test of time and many operators . This won't be the last antenna that you will build and you don't need to re-invent the wheel. Even a mediocre antenna will fill your log book.
Stay off of the internet discussion boards, if they knew anything they would be on the radio not the computer!
Don't worry about perfection. The true fun of amateur radio is in learning and improving.

Thanks Bob - didn't know about them. The books on Baluns that used to be published by ARRL are incredibly expensive now - going on Amazon for between $250 and $1300 bucks. That is almost a new radio in cost.
