Gary,

If you think I learned this stuff in school, you're very wrong.  I learned 
it from playing with radios and working on some of the last HF systems the 
AF had.  School teaches you how to solve problems and exposes you to the 
theory that applies.  We never talked about radios, or propagation or real 
antennas.  You learn that all on your own by reading and doing.
