Subject: AC4CA's XYL Replacer (Spinning Reel Holder)
I mentioned on the net tonight that I reinstalled my 30M dipole today. One
of the end support ropes had snapped during the storms this weekend. Over
the years, Jackie, my XYL, has spent many hours patiently waiting for me to
get a good shot over the best fork of a tree with my fishing line and
Wrist-Rocket. On more than one occasion her patience with my bossy "Hold the
reel at this angle, not so low!" wore thin. So here is a link to my
invention, "The AC4CA XYL Replacer."
There are three images in the link below. Basically the device is three
pieces of rebar. Two welded next to each other to give me enough height. The
third piece is a short one welded perpendicular to the others and used to
step the end into the ground. I cut the end of the piece that goes into the
ground at an angle with a hacksaw, so it goes into the ground easier. I used
small hose clamps to hold the spinning reel to the rebar. The crazy thing
works great!
