Vern, If you send me the pictures (around 100-150KB size) I can upload them for everyone to enjoy on the website and give Jim credit as the original builder. Maybe add more pictures later when you have fully restored it. I continue to be amazed at how many of these HBRs are still out there. 73 Kees K5BCQ

Greetings Kees and the group,
Jim and I met last week to make the trade, and now i'm the proud owner of an HBR (my first)! Jim is a great guy and graciously agreed to meet me "somewhere in the middle" between our respective QTH. Jim said he built this HBR initially as a HBR-16 (with the Eddystone dial) while serving in the Air Force, but then added a Q-multiplier; and told me it's now an HBR-17.
As Jim mentioned, it's been in storage, and will need a little cleanup, replacement electrolitics and so on; but is still in great shape. I'll be making every effort to restore it to its former self, preserving as much of the original labeling, etc as possible. Jim did a fantastic job on the construction, so i want to be equally meticulous in the restoration! I'll try to make photos available to the group if interested.
73's for now...Vern - N7GTB Kennewick, WA

I don't know if it's a 13C or not. Jim said he would be sending pictures. I personally have enough radios for the time being.....and wonder what I'm going to do with all my stuff later on. They tell me "you can't take it with you" and I don't see me using it all up anytime soon. I wonder about the guy who shows up at all these swapmeets and buys ALL the good old tube stuff and has BUILDINGS full of old radios (I've seen the pictures) .....he will work on "sometime". Using is IN....collecting is OUT and having fun with all the stuff is "Numero Uno". 73 Kees K5BCQ

If it's the 13C I'd be interested (sheepish grin) I'm coming along Very VERY slowly with mine... Your right tho it should go to a good home ... Kinda wish i knew if or when I'm gonna kick thst proverbial bucket, as no one is interested in my family, and i don't know any locals that are interested either... Brought my HBR 15 to a local club meeting and just barely had any interest in the radio..Reminds me of a thread in a sister group the gent was 78 and wondered what might or should hapoen to his gold mine and as you all know not many of ohr neighbors are into this portion of the hobby... 73 everyoneBill ke9xq PS not heard much traffic on this subject of late 🙄

FYI Guys and thank you for making this available, Jim. It should go to a good home and to someone who understands the HBR history.. Do you recall which one of the HBR series it is ? HBR-14, HBR-16, HBR-8, HBR-12, HBR ? 73 Kees K5BCQ

Hi. I'm Jim, AK7R & have been a ham since 1952. Back in about 1962 I built one of the HBR tube receivers designed by the late Ted Crosby (W9TC, SK). I used it for several years & it's been in storage for about 35 years or so. Would like to find a good home for it. It's in pretty decent shape & I don't want my heirs (who have no interest in ham radio) to put it in the trash. Be glad to send pix, etc.73...& thanks!Jim Goldring, AK7R, North Bonneville, WA(509)427-4101 (landline}(360)314-5714 (cell)
