[HBR] Eddystone Three Section Variable Capacitor Question

I highly recommend cutting  several  1/4 inch aluminum sections- - for 
instance 1/2  inch by 2 inch sections  and use your  hardware to 
stabilize each end of the variable tuning  capacitor. The 1/4 stock is 
easy to saw with hand tools and is available at any home supply store. 
Past experience with a variable  cap mounted with several bolts and 
using nuts as spacers had resulted in unstable results.   A couple of 
photos of the variable capacitor and the aluminum spacers can be seen:

It looks like my application would need two 1" screws and 6 nuts to get 
the capacitor stood off the chassis and snugged down tightly, and allow
