Brian,
My HRO-16 (and the HB companion HBT-90 transmitter) are my main CW rig.
The HBR-16 has W3NQN passive audio filter that does an outstanding job
narrowing the passband without any ringing. I highly recommend it. Ed also has
a SSB version of the filter, but I can't speak to its effectiveness.

If I remember him rightly, Carl KM1H, said that selectivity gotten with
tuned circuits, I.F. strips, not crystal filters or Q multipliers, leaves
the signal sounding better. Certainly the high Q devices like crystals tend
to "ring" a lot at narrow selectivity settings. Any opinions?
Cheers,
Brian
