Hello Lorne,
There is a web for the Western Historic Radio Museum that has some
excellent rebuilding articles including one for the Hammarlund SP-600 with lots of
excellent photos. I have met Henry Rogers a few times and have been
impressed by his work. He used to operate a radio museum in the basement of his
home in Virginia City, Nevada. I think he has moved and the museum may no
longer be in operation but the website is still going. It's worth a look
and a read. Caution: if you like vintage gear you will spend a lot of time
at his site!
There is also a 4 hour set of videos (DVD format) on rebuilding the
SP-600JX available from the electric radio magazine book store. I can supply the
address and particulars if you are interested.
73 and Good luck with your project,
Ed

PS- I have an SP-600JX that is on the list of rebuild projects in my
shack.

I realize this is not directly HBR related and for this I apologize.
I am rebuilding a Hammarlund SP600 receiver. I am doing modifications as
described by Doug Blakeslee and documented in the August 1970 issue of QST.
I am specifically having some issues with the "S" meter and the AVC
circuitry. I am hoping someone on this list has had some experience with
this old gem, possibly having done the mods.
and may be able to offer some guidance. For this I would be grateful.
There may somewhere be a Hammarlund list but so far I have not found it.
