[HBR] HBR-11 Template

Scott:

Ted Crosby to the best of my knowledge never created a template for his
HBR 8/11 model, and I have never seen one created by someone else.

The first chassis template was created for the HBR-13 (his final design)
by W3FX(SK) and is included in "Recollections". I have chassis & panel
templates for my HBR-XX (an upgrade to the HBR-13) but they are for a
full-size 19-in rack panel and associated chassis; the larger
panel/chassis lets the receiver ventilate much better, and the interior
runs about 10- degrees less than the little cabinet used by Ted.
Frequency stability in all hot cathode designs is a function of heat
rise from cold-start to "operating conditions". Way-back-then everybody
simply learned to live with it, but in our present digital world (where
frequency stability is much easier to create) the aggravation of the
warm-up frequency shift looks huge, but it is exactly what it was back
in the '60s.

Sad to say, you are probably on your own on this issue. I will send you
my templates if you want to use them for ideas; just let me know. Those
in "Recollections" are for illustration only and are not at the needed
1:1 scale.
