Hi Bill,

The I.F. cans are made to operate a specific frequency with a specified
Q which directly affects the bandwidth in your radio. Some of the cans
have variable caps in them for tuning instead of slugs in the inductor.
Most of them can probably be stretched the amount you are talking about
but the performance might be degraded. That won't matter much if the
radio has an xtal filter for selectivity but the one you are building
relies on those I.F. cans for selectivity.

If you have 75 kc cans coming I'll hold onto the 85 kc ones I was going
to send. I don't have a 85 kc BFO coil I can spare so you will be better
off if the 75 kc set includes that. Good luck with your project.
