I'm making progress on acquiring parts for my HBR project.
Today I received in the mail a 3500 kHz crystal from
a command set, an ebay purchase. It is in a metal octal
container with a little mushroom cap on top which
has 3500 printed on it. I've found a reference
on the 'net which says I should use pins 3 and 7.
An 0A2 voltage regulator tube is supposed to be
coming in the mail soon.
I have transformer, rectifier and two chokes for the
power supply. Some of my power supply parts are overkill
in size (8 hry 250 ma) but what's in the junkbox
is much cheaper than what's in a catalog. With the hefty
iron, I'm thinking it may be smart to use a separate
power supply chassis. If I ever get smaller parts
I can build one on board.
I have 85 kHz IF transformers. I think I'm doing
pretty well for tubes.
So I have enough junk to build a power supply and
see if I can make the 3500 kHz calibration oscillator.
Then I'll go for the BFO and the audio section.
