Absolutely, Walt - I worked part-time for GATEWAY Elec. when they had a store in Denver, and we had several old Tektronix scopes that I was asked to "get rid of" - as you know, not only do you end up with lots of really great parts, but they're all held in there by mil-spec screws, nuts, & lockwashers.  I've built more stuff from those scope teardowns than Carter had Liver Pills (dating myself, here).  Another bonus is always the really neat LABLED shields and covers for everything.  My FIRST scope was an ancient DuMont from a pawnshop; left it at the ham club on Treasure Island (SFRAN).
