Funny you should mention that.  I have a Tek 531A sitting awaiting
disassembly for parts.   Last time I took trash to the recycle place, there
it was ...  

I did open it up for a look and noted exactly what you say: No wrapped
wiring.   AND a lifetime supply of various excellent quality parts.

The 531A was the first really decent scope I used, back in grad school days
and it's not going to be easy for me to part it out.   It helps only a
little that I have a perfectly decent Tek 475 and when I applied power to
the 531, it emitted smoke from somewhere in what looks like a power supply
area.   

Geez, there must be a dozen 6DJ8s in there -- that's the tube that's a
better triode mixer than the 12AT7 and 6J6, if you can afford it.   (The hi
fi boys also like them so they are rarely cheap.)

Actually, this is the RM 31A -- the rack mount version.   (A 531A turned
sideways.)  Also what looks like an okay type CA plugin.   AND the manual.
