[HBR] Just in case, before parting out..

I am just about to part out the receiver chassis from an early GE FM mobile
rig.
The chassis is about 17" x 4" x 6" high (most of that height is due to long
tall
IF cans). The chassis is an 'L' not a 'U'.

Downstream of the VHF front end, there are two ~9MHz IF stages. Following
this
is a 6U8 crystal-controlled converter to a lower IF (perhaps 455kHz). There
are three 2nd IF
amplifier stages. Each has two IF cans (presumably to achieve FM bandwidth
needs).
There are limiter/disciminator stages followed by a small audio chain to a
6AQ5 with small
speaker transformer.

This might be kinda interesting if you add a 9MHz homebrew xtal filter ahead
of the
1st IF, and rip out the VHF stuff ahead of it.

If I have time I will do a couple of experiments to determine the
approximate IF frequencies.

The original channel crystals are gone but the 7490kHz xtal in the 2nd mixer
is present.
No tubes are present. Most of the original tubes were 6BH6's.

Just in case anyone wants this for say $7.50 plus shipping, please let me
know off-list.

73, ian K3IMW
