One trick that you can sometimes use when you have a cap that's WAY
bigger than needed is to take out pairs of plates (one rotor, adjacent
stator), staggered between rotor and stator so as to give you the same
total width of plates in each section but with about three-four times
the spacing. However you do need to calculate the capacitance before
doing this.

But that's an emergency kind of thing: It's better (when you have a
choice) to look for a cap that is right for the circuit.
