[HBR] Tuning Cap question???

Greetings Earthlings
  found a cap that has three sections, and while I have not measured  
it, because of  pencil marking saying 140 on it, believe it to be 140  
pf.  While I can make it work VIA removing plates, or cap in series,  
the plates are pretty close together.  Which brings me to the next  
question in my series of queries.  What kind of voltages will this  
circuit generate?  I ask this because the thing might have come from  
a solid state goodie where the voltages might have been quite  
reduced.  I'm thinking of putting it in series with a 110 volt lamp  
and putting 110 on it and rotating it through it's range, but that  
might be only half the test I should do.  What's the next step in  
eliminating or proving this guy will do the job requested of it???
