[HBR] Need advise: BFO coil not tapped

Just a thought .. would it be possible to add a smaller fixed coil to one
of the
leads of the existing adjustable coil.  The junction
would serve as the tap.
I would assume that the adustable range of
the coil would be slightly lessened
and the total inductance slightly
higher.

Maybe it would be worth setting up the circuit
experimentally to see if it yields
what you need?

If I
recall, I did something like that in my HBR (I wound my own BFO coil but
could
not get the inductance of the variable coil high enough w/o
adding an external
coil .. wrong type of coil slug?)
