Hi Cal

For best accuracy during testing you will probably need to isolate the IF
coil with a couple of 100 K resistors.

On you sig Gen you can probably add additional
temporary" capacitance to coil A or add additional cap to the tuning
variable to lower the frequency range the amount that you need. A diode and
VTVM would work as a detector or use a scope .

What are you using for IF coils?

Subject: [HBR] Need advice: tuning set up for 1st and 2nd IF coils

Hello to all:
I recently dusted off my generator, an Elenco SG-9500. It goes as far down
as 100 Khz and that's it. I have a DVM that I was thinking about using to
measure the maximum output tune on these transformers. Would it be better
to take the output and rectify it down to DC and check for a maximum DC
level (ala a rudimentary diode detector) or can I simply hook up the output
and check for max AC output? I think the DVM is a 1MEG/volt input unit so I
don't suspect this tester will load down the circuit anytime soon.

Much thanks.

Cal.
