What a beautiful receiver!  I have been a ham for 50 years and always  
wanted an HBR, but have never had the time to build one.
An old trick I learned from another old timer ham years ago was this. 
He would put a pot in the filament lead of each tube in his HB receivers so 
 he could adjust the voltage to where the tube noise was lowered!  Quietest 
 receiver I ever heard while still having full sensitivity!
