I was going to mention this too. I recall in Ted's notes and writings that 
he advised against ad-hoc modifications as the HBR series was built the way 
it was, for a reason.

Of course this doesn't mean mod's shouldn't be made, but it does suggest 
the design should be respected as well thought out and well vetted.
