I have been following Nick's HBR 11 thread with interest.
I am in the process of rebuilding my HBR 12 and can attest to the fact that
space is at a premium.
I have used the 1 " of #12 to the center pin on this and my HBR 13. It
certainly takes advantage of any vertical space available.
My main reason for rebuilding the HBR 12 was to get the oscillator tube to
the top of the chassis rather on the rear. I accomplished this but not
without some pain. I made a seperate plate for the chassis top and relocated
the socket and coil there. I also added a "junk box" Swan dial system to the
National, giving me a very nice tuning rate.
However, this is like most rebuilds, the deeper you dig the more you change
or redo. Who knows where it will end?
