I have been working with Jay for the past few years on
his book. Jay knew Ted Crosby personally and felt
that the HBR adventure should not fade away. The
book is a treasure trove of information relating to
the HBR's and how to build them as well as other
information relating to building vacuum tube receivers.
It also delves into the personality of Ted Crosby and
his inner circle.
It started out to be a paper bound book. As the pages
started adding up, Jay came to a fork in the road to
delete some information to keep the book a reasonable
size. This meant deleting some relevant information.
In discussions with me and Lee, WB6SSW, he made
the decision to go to a CD so that all the information
could be retained. It is now in the vicinity of 500
pages of information. The pages are all in PDF
files and easy to print out.
There is a lot of information that has not been published
before as well as information from a lot of sources
that is compiled in one CD.
Having this CD is like having an old Handbook but
it is just vacuum tube receivers of the Ted Crosby
design.
This book is not going to make Jay rich and he
never will be compensated for the time he put
into the writing and editing that he has done.
I hope there is enough support from this group
that will have made his efforts worthwhile.

interest in this project.
