Dear amigo Kees:
While re-organizing my garage,I was pleasently surprised to see the three
Hammarlund tandem connected capacitors that used to be part of my
sorrily defunct HBR-14
receiver.
I remember it had a 1675 kiloHertz quartz crystal for the second
conversion frequency
of 1600 kiloHertz... the second IF was 75 kiloHertz... maybe I will find
the Millen 100 kHz
IF transformers that were padded down with extra capacity to work on 75
kHz...
Sad to say, I took apart the radio to salvage the parts in order to make
a 40 meters
band transceiver .... What a big mistake amigo !!!
Anyway, as I plan to retire pretty soon, and the three tuning capacitors
for the RF
stage, the mixer and the first local oscillator are now ready to be
cleaned and re-used
I now must find the HBR 14 's circuit diagram and start looking for the
parts.
Got plenty of vacuum tubes, and I have not forgotten how to wind and rewind
power and audio transformers for tube equipment !!!
Keep up the good work with the HBR's Heritage Keith !!!
