Yep.
Everyone should build at least one regenerative IF stage. After that,
nearly all will be cured. It would be best to do it as a mod, so you
don't have so much invested in it.
Regeneration can be useful to get somewhat more performance from an
existing receiver without major changes or significant expense. It
made reasonably good sense in the 40's when crystals were horribly
expensive and filter technology was in its infancy. But even the TC
HBR approach of double conversion to a fixed low 2nd IF is VASTLY
superior for new construction and the cost today is negligible,
compared to the time to build from scratch any well-performing
receiver.
