Ida Grove is pretty much the "West Coast" of Iowa, most of the
interesting (IMHO, because I grew up there!) stuff is closer to the East Coast.
Collins in Cedar Rapids is definitely a 4-5 hour trip each way from the West
Coast but worth it.

The big regional hamfest from an Eastern Iowa perspective is in Peoria, IL
in September, smaller ones are also usually held in later summer/fall.

Peoria is a long way away from Ida Gove.
You probably want to ask someone who knows more about
Sioux City, Sioux Falls and Omaha.

Tim.
