Rick,
I assume you are referring specifically to the W6TC series of receivers,
and not just homebrew receivers in general. If so, I'll stick to the same
thing I have said numerous times. For a beginner, the HBR-8/11 is the only
way to go. Build it in two steps, just like Ted presented it, getting the 8
tube version working correctly before adding the additional stages. If you
have plenty of building experience, then the"Deluxe HBR Receiver" from the
17th edition of the Bill Orr handbook is the way to go. Regardless of what
you built, leave a little extra room on the chassis for future changes.
When you build one, it's never really finished.
Either way, there is a wealth of knowledge on this reflector. If you run
into problems, chances are someone has the answer.
