Subject: HBR-16 + RME 45...

Greetings.

I just joined and wanted to say "hello out there!", and ask: "Is anyone still building an HBR receiver?" I've recently begun collecting parts for a variation of the HBR using a case, front panel and tuning dial from an RME 45 and various parts from other 'junked' commercial receivers (i.e., Hammarlund HQ-100, Knight R-55, RME 45, etc...). I think I have most of the needed parts (power supply, main tuning, sockets, etc.), but wondering about (current) sources others may have and still use...(?) Particularly where the I.F. transformers are concerned... I've built CW transmitters (both tube and transistor), direct conversion receivers, regens, and just about every other piece of gear in my shack. Thought it was time to tackle a superhet... I had in mind to make it general coverage, but that may be expecting a bit much at this juncture...(?) I've also been toying with using crystal filters in the I.F....(~10Mhz), but that's still up in the air
 so-to-speak.

p.s. - I could also use a meter movement for use as an 'S' meter, something that will fit the RME 45... (i.e. - Square faced, 2 1/8" diameter, four mounting studs). Anyone have one of those?

Thanks,

-Vern, N7GTB
