Tom,
The tried n' true method for those coils is the old "tie the #26 to the
doorknob, step off, and wind toward the door". I've also found that once
you get 'em tuned right (by moving turns up and down), finish off by
spraying them with CLEAR LACQUER. Yeah, yeah... I know... there are purists
among us, but this keeps the turns STILL, and where they belong. Check the
HBR website for the original and "official" coil winding instructions. You
wouldn't think that such a simple procedure could be so confusing, but
well... it can be.
Also... coil diameter x 3.1416 x number of turns + 10 percent... always
works.
