Jay,

Thank you so much for telling us the 'straight skinny" on Ted.  I'd heard
part of it, but never to the level that you described.  Yes, those older
guys could make magic alright.  In 1963-66, I was a US Navy Radioman,
stationed in San Diego.  I used to listen to KMPC (710 am) up in L.A., on
those long Sunday mid-watches, as it was the ONLY station that played
contemporary jazz and the "new" bossa nova.  Later I found out that some of
the engineers there, INVENTED the so called "SigAlert", which in basic form,
is still used today in Los Angeles.  Old Gene Autry knew how to find 'em.
