I did ask the seller if he had more than one set; he didn't answer
that question tho he did answer some others like does he have the
front end tuning caps (no). From that and the fact that he says he
has 'inherited the factory stock' I think it's most likely that he
has multiple sets. I bid GBP 12.00 (about $21) but was outbid; I'm
going to leave it at that and see what happens post-auction.
There are three bidders so far. The seller says airmail shipping
would be about GBP 9.75.
I think if some of us want to build up G2DAF sets with original front-
end coils we'll probably get the chance. The auction ends Sunday,
10:15 AM PST.
Currently working on a six-tube receiver: 19J6 mixer, 12AU7 LO/3rd
Audio, 19JN8 1st IF/2nd Audio-AGC driver, 19JN8 2nd IF/plate
detector, 19JN8 1st Audio/BFO, 35W4 rectifier. 'Transformerless,'
80/40 by band imaging with 5400 kcs IF, LO tuning 1400-1900 kcs.
Half lattice crystal filter in IF, xtal controlled BFO. Works well
for a fairly simple design -- copied OZ, M0, and somebody in Poland
on 80 using my 160 meter wave loop this evening. Selectivity's so-
so but freq stability is outstanding. AGC instability on carriers is
a problem -- there's always one.
