The 6AZ8 pentode is referred to as a "semiremote cutoff pentode" in some of 
my books.

The trouble with the otherwise-excellent 6BA6 is noise. On 80 and 40 they're 
fine, usually, but on the higher bands they just hiss too much. 6EH7 is the 
best alternative I know of.
