Greetings all...

Well, ALL of the tube socket holes have been punched/ALL Of the IF
transformer mounting holes are in place/ALL of the oddball holes & squares
for the heavy iron stuff have been carved in/the holes for the front tuning
dial are DONE/etc./etc./etc. ...all that remains to be done now is the
drilling of about a half dozen "top to bottom" access holes on the chassis,
plus those for the front panel---headphone jack, on/off switch/BFO, etc.
etc.

In many respects, those last control holes are probably THE most crucial
ones: wrongly/inconveniently located, & it won't matter WHAT kind of mess
might exist BEHIND the front panel---it's those misbegotten/ill-conceived
front ones that'll be staring back at me each & every time I sit before the
rig!

I sure do hope to get this all done before the end of this coming weekend.
I also like to take a full day to leisurely look at everything "...just one
last time", so that I won't have to do any metal banging after the paint
has been applied. Ah---the paint shop, & all of its delights & mysteries! A
different topic entirely...but one that I'm certainly ready for after all
this metal work...!

By all accounts, it SHOULD be a handsome-looking thing, if nothing
else...certainly shaping-up that way, anyway, if I do say so myself! One
thing I'm especially anxious to try out is an idea I stole from my old
Hammarund HQ-170, wherein a large-knobbed, fine tune control was
incorporated with an absolutely wonderful vernier drive.

I'll doublessly need that type of contraption with cascaded regenerative IF
stages! Hi Hi
