Very accessible but also expensive. Between the strong US dollar of those 
days and the various import duties and fees, prices were far above what US hams 
were uced to paying. I don't think countries in the Commonwealth had such fees 
and duties, so the result could be that building a DAF was much less expensive 
than importing, say, an SB-300 from the lower 48 provinces...er, states. And 
the result is a much much better receiver!
