I just checked; the pictures taken way back before all the parts were
mounted have been taken down. New pictures are at:

Yep, command set IFTs!

The horizontal tube (near center) is the VFO.

Upper right: 2nd IF, detector, sideband oscillator, AGC. Upper left,
power supply. Center left, filters (SSB is hardwired right now) and
1st IF. Center right, VFO. Lower left, audio, 2nd mixer, and filter
driver, crystal calibrator (not wired). Lower right, bandswitch
assembly, and (under the trimmer boards) RF, 1st mixer, 1st
oscillator.

In a redo, I'd keep the general layout the same but spread things out
some in congested areas (detector, AGC, SSB oscillator) and close
them up in others (mainly the IF stages). I think if the SSB
oscillator trimmer caps and crystal sockets were rearranged it would
be possible to use the FT-101 internal speaker.

Today I wired a couple of spare triode sections as an electronic
voltage regulator, using an NE-2 as a reference. The VFO now runs
from regulated HV and the 20 cps shift on very strong signals is
gone. That made the audio sound better but I think it's still not quite
right. I'd put it about in the middle of the pack among ham sets of
the 60's-70's in audio quality. This will require further study.

Next, regulated voltage for the 1st IF screen and wiring the crystal
calibrator.
