Cliff White wants to swap another homebrew receiver. Turns out, it is not
an HBR. It's from an article in the March 1956 QST (mine don't go back
that far). It is a double conversion 1600Khz IF and 85Khz IF, band
switching 80/40/20/15/10 receiver with an Eddystone 898 dial. Pictures
are available if you are interested.
It has a cabinet with three large holes in the lid for ventilation and
the usual dust and dirt from storage.
The upper toggle switches and the knobs on the upper right and left are
bent and have slight front panel
indentations (dropped at an angle ?).
The 898 dial turns smoothly and only looks age worn and the paper has
spots.
Everything is there, tubes, etc.
Self contained power supply inside, requires external speaker.
Construction looks OK, not great, not bad.
Looks like he used the internals and housing from a TV tuner for the band
switch which is from another QST
article in that time frame, according to Cliff.
Cliff has a letter from the original owner with his schematic
modifications and the first two pages of the
original article.
I have not powered the unit on.
Cliff wants to swap for an excellent condition, unused, Eddystone 898
dial. Shipping is whatever FedEx charges plus $10 for packing, packaging
materials, etc.
