Hello Lorne
The original design was in QST June 1956.
It was run in ARRL's "How to Become a Radio Amateur" from 1958 through my
1967 printing and maybe longer.
The design was also used in RCA Ham Tips Feb., 1959. The only changes were
adding a volume control and band coil sources.

Bob, I am impressed with your novice special RX.
I have built several regens but have had poor results.
I guess after having built two HBR's and working on the third
my expectations may have been too high.
I have built one with a single 6SN7 and also a couple solid
state ones. I was especially disappointed in the SS types.
I have tried finding the circuit diagram for the 56 novice
special and am unable to do so. I do not have the QST issue and
none of the handbooks I have in that area show it.
Is there any where that I might get a diagram off the internet?
Tnx es 73
Lorne
