Bill, 
A step bit is a good deal. Costs about $25 for a decent one, but with it
you'll be able to cut nice holes over a large range of diameters. 
Check Harbor Freight or some such, if you're only going to be doing occasional
jobs with Aluminum chassis. If you're going to go for it, Klein makes some
nice ones!
