Hello-
I have started on an HBR receiver, using a front panel / chassis that
was intended for another project many years back. The front panel is a
standard rack type { 19" } that is 9" tall with a crinkle paint finish. The
chassis mated to it is a little large for HBR being 10x17". A beautiful
Eddystone #898 is mounted on front panel, but centered. I have the 2x5x7"
chassis to mount the RF front end on, and I believe I can work around the
dial being centered rather than offset to left side of front panel.
After digging through 3 boxes of air variables I realize that I do not
have the necessary 3 gang unit. I would love to find a really good quality
unit to match this Eddystone dial drive, such as a double bearing. If anyone
is willing to sell or trade for an HBR tuning cap I do have some really nice
single air variables by Racal that are NOS, and other types of nice high
quality.
Perhaps someone knows of a source for a usable tuning cap, such as one
of the surplus / supply houses?
Regarding the coil forms - I bought a few of the 5 pin plug in coil
forms from Antique Elec. Supply a while back just to check them out, would
these be a good choice for HBR?
I am looking at building the HBR by Orr, called the "Deluxe HBR
Receiver", since I have so much room on this big chassis and front panel.
Has anyone seen or built one of these?
    Thank you, Byron WA5THJ.
