[HBR] AGC

The HBR-8 doesn't have an AGC.  It also wouldn't be able to use=
 one 
properly because compared to it's brothers it has a lot less=
 overall 
gain.  One must have more overall gain than required to have a=
 good 
functioning AGC.  The general idea of AGC is to keep the various=
 
stages from being overloaded, most important being the detector. =
 
Therefore you will have little or no distortion of the signal and=
 
also a means of compensating for any signal fading.  It's=
 basically a 
type of feedback circuit.
I have one receiver here that has AGC on every stage, including=
 the 
mixers(all three of them).  There's no oscillator pulling nor do=
 the 
oscillators have a buffer stage.  The mixer's are simple=
 triodes.
