I would not advocate cutting up a good BC-453 but there are 
plenty of parts units out there ....I've seen them for $7 and $5 
in the last 6 months at swapmeets and when I've put a wanted 
on the Boatanchors, Milsurplus, and ARC-5 reflectors I've always 
received no fewer than 8 offers.

I have provided 18  85KhzIFs (separate or in parts BC-453s) to 
various people on this reflector but I'll sure pick up any I see if 
it's cheap. They are out there.
