Hey gang!
Dennis just reminded me of something. There is a big interest in learning
Microcontrollers, specifically the Arduino. There is also a big interest
in learning single board computers, specifically the Raspberry Pi.
I have several Arduino's and a Raspberry Pi v2. I even built an Arduino on
a breadboard. I would like to teach a couple of sessions on the Arduino,
and in keeping with the charter of our club, build it on a breadboard. The
parts, including the breadboard are about $15. If you already have an
Arduino board, that works too.
For those of you who do not know my history, I am a computer system
administrator. I have worked in this field for over 25 years. My Linux
experience goes back over 20 years, I have even build a commercial Linux
distribution from source code. So after the Arduino sessions, I would like
to teach a couple of sessions on the Raspberry Pi. You can order the Pi
online for around $35, plan to spend more for a power supply, a protective
shell, Micro SD card, and other extras. A Raspberry Pi Zero goes for
around $5. If you are travelling to Kansas City anytime soon, you can pick
up a Pi at Microcenter. Sorry, but we can't build a Pi on a breadboard.
How about it! Does that sound fun?
