Howdy group!
Josh and I will be camping this weekend at Little Sioux Scout Ranch so you
will miss us this month.
Since I won't be there in person to ask my antenna feed line question I
thought to ask here.
My HF QRP gear covers 80m / 40m / 30m / 20m. I am looking to build a W3EDP
antenna with 300 onm twin lead to use those bands. My tuner is an Emtech
ZM-2.
The problem I am trying to solve is how to connect the tuner to the
antenna. In good weather I could connect the tuner directly at the base of
the antenna. Since this is a manual tuner it is not practical to leave it
at the antenna base. Typically a 4:1 balun is used, but the tuner
documentation says a external balun will make tuning difficult.
So my problem is how to connect the base of a W3EDP balanced line antnna to
a z match tuner without using a balun. I have read about using parallel
grounded coax and that is first on my list to try. Do you know of any
other things to try?
